Model matters

The Vuelift line-up consists of six
models and two shapes: the cylindrical Round or faceted Octagonal.

The original plan for Vista Serena considered the largest model, the Octagonal+ Glass. But during the design stage, and in consultation with Savaria expert, Chris Baker, as well as top dealer A+ Elevators & Lifts, the Vuelift Round Acrylic model was determined to make the best use of the home’s siting, and provide an unparalleled view of the Las Vegas Strip and iconic new Sphere.

“It was a great experience to fly out and meet all together as one team,” says Christen Hansen, Director of Project Management at A+ Elevators & Lifts. “The architect, builder, owner, show home promoters, Chris Baker and myself all at the table to come up with the best solution in terms of aesthetics, as well as the technical details required of the Vuelift unit itself to make the project a resounding success.”

The Round model also echoes other curved elements of the home, including part of the exterior façade, rounded skylights and the outer edge of the infinity pool.

Driven by proven technology

The Vuelift uses a winding drum drive, with two drums connected to military- grade aircraft cables attached to the top of the cab to winch the elevator up and down.

The winding drum technology provides a higher capacity and consistent speed in both directions, regardless of load in the cab or environmental factors—including higher altitudes like the McCullough mountain range where the Ascaya development and Vista Serena home are located.

The winding drum also provides quieter operation than many other tubular home elevators, with an abrasion-free ride even at the minimum running clearance required by the home elevator code. That means no reduction of performance as grease or seal wears off, and no scratches or grease residue on the glass or acrylic hoistway.

Installation excellence

With the design and model selections made, A+ Elevators & Lifts, a top Savaria dealer with a special touch for the Vuelift, took over to handle the installation at Vista Serena.

Founded in 2009 by Chris Harris as a one-person shop, today A+ offers a combined 130 years of elevator and lift industry experience, and provides turnkey installation, maintenance and repair in six states: Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.

The tight timelines required to get the elevator installed and the entire home ready to showcase at the 2025 International Builders Show meant that Hansen’s installation crew had their work cut out for them, but they were up to the challenge.

Logistics were a bit more complicated than usual because every trade was on the same deadline. But the end result was worth it for Hansen.
